Recent updates to Dream PC build

May 15, 2017. Updated video card model due to supply availability, same or similar specs on all features.

April 16, 2017. The Intel Pentium line of Kaby Lake CPUs availability has improved, now using the Pentium CPU we consider to have a great price performance profile making the Dream PC more affordable.

March 7, 2017. Upgraded SSD to incredible PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD speed!

February 17,2017. Changed CPU to the Intel Kaby Lake Pentium line, now that Intel has reintroduced Hyper-Threading to this processor line.

January 26, 2017. Upgraded CPU to Intel 7th generation Kaby Lake architecture CPU. Upgraded motherboard chipset to Intel Kaby Lake architecture Intel H270 Chipset.

November 2, 2016. Upgraded video card to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050!

August 23, 2016. Changed video card manufacturer due to availability, similar specs.

August 8, 2016. Updated PSU.

July 10, 2016. Upgraded video card model.

June 17, 2016. Upgraded CPU back to a more powerful Intel Core CPU, this is a better match for a gaming PC with its Hyper-threading feature. If Intel ever launches an unlocked Skylake 6th Generation Pentium CPU that can be overclocked we can take a look at that then as an option to reduce the cost of the PC.

May 9, 2016. Changed CPU to an Intel Pentium to make the PC more affordable. You can always upgrade the CPU now or in the future if you really need more CPU muscle and/or if your budget allows.

May 7, 2016. Upgraded video card to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 engine! Changed motherboard to one that includes a M.2 socket for a potential future M.2 PCI Express x4 SSD addition.

March 4, 2016. Upgraded to a 6th generation Intel Skylake CPU, DDR4 memory and an Intel H170 Chipset motherboard!

October 23, 2015. Upgraded video card to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750Ti graphics engine! Both powerful and power efficient.

September 12, 2105. Upgraded storage to a 250 GB SSD drive from a traditional hard drive. It's time now for SSDs which are still more expensive but oh so much faster.

July 28, 2015. Upgraded memory to 8 GB using two 4 GB memory sticks instead of previously a total of 4 GB using two 2 GB sticks! The price drop in 4 GB memory sticks makes this happen. Great!

June 19, 2015. Upgraded video card to AMD Radeon R7 360 graphics.

April 6, 2015. Changed PSU to a newly released higher efficiency 80 Plus Bronze PSU made by a substantial PSU manufacturer. Has the all power and connectors we think needed.

March 30, 2015. Upgraded motherboard to Intel's H97 Express chipset that supports 5th generation Intel Broadwell CPUs. This motherboard also has a M.2 slot for a SSD drive supporting both a M.2 SATA 6 Gbps or a M.2 PCIe SSD module.

November 21, 2014. Changed video card to R7 250X with 2GB GDDR5 memory from R7 260X with 1GB GDDR5 memory. 3D video games are requiring more video memory so video memory size now plays a bigger role in video card selection.
